In my humble opinion this is a big step forward and way overdue. The proposed study is to be an observational one, looking at the outcomes of children who were vaccinated according to the recommended immunization schedule, children who were not vaccinated and children who were alternatively vaccinated. And their reason for not looking at this sooner... for fear that a study of this kind may be unethical!

I recently received an email from my friend Jennifer with a link to an article by USA Today, "Hib Infection makes it's Deadly Return".  In her email, Jennifer raises a valid point: "In the interest of fairness, I think it would be great to see you post something about these outbreaks on your website. We are so fortunate to have access to life saving vaccines in this country and sometimes I think we forget how many children used to die from communicable diseases." Based on the USA Today article and the fact that a vaccine court recently ruled that there is no biological plausibility that MMR vaccines and Thimerosal cause Autism, I think it's time for discussion.  While I've never been anti-vaccine, I definitely promote parental caution

Update:  The court ruled that there is no biological plausibility that there is a link between Autism and Vaccines based upon the evidence submitted by three families.   I'm sure there will be a lot of discussion related to this ruling.  As I am able to uncover more information I will continue to post updates. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today after hearing from more than 180 lawyers collectively representing the 4,800 families with claims, the Vaccine Court Omnibus Autism Proceeding will issue a ruling about the following unanswered questions: Does Thimerosal used in vaccines cause Autism? Does the MMR vaccine cause autism? Does the combination of Thimerosal-containing vaccines and the MMR vaccine cause autism? According to CNN.com: " Since 2001, thousands of parents with

Not to harp on the subject, but you have to listen to this phone call made to a manufacturer of a flu vaccine. I've written about the questionable effectiveness of the flu vaccine in previous posts, but this audio is definitely worth a quick listen if you're considering being vaccinated against influenza this year. [youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az5aAwr4ugE] Pretty sad when the actual manufacturer can't make a sound argument for getting a flu shot...

It's flu season and everywhere I go it seems that the flu vaccine is being pushed.  From radio spots, news reports and magazine articles, we are reminded continually to get a flu vaccine.  And you can now receive the vaccine in public places such as grocery stores and airports or even your workplace.   Next thing you know Big Pharma will be going door to door selling in-home innoculations!  The influenza vaccine is beyond readily available and I have to wonder why?  I guess the obvious answer that pharmaceutical companies and the medical community would like us to believe is that it prevents complications, hospitalizations and fatalaties that can arise as a result of this disease, however based on my

4,800 families are seeking compensation in a series of federal hearings regarding the link between Vaccines and Autism that is taking place this week as reported by The New York Times. The families all have a child with Autism which they feel was caused by Thimerosal, a mercury preservative that was used in many vaccines and can still be found in some flu vaccines. Thimerosal was removed from routine vaccinations in 2001. However if there is in fact a link, the damage is already done as the rate of Autism increased from an estimated 1 in 2500 children in 1988 to 1 in 160 children today. These hearings follow a recent ruling by a Georgia Court in favor of a
