Britton and Pops

My Granddaddy, Millon E. Toombs, passed away just after midnight on March 24, 2008 and I thought it important to document what a wonderful person he was in my blog. At age 88, he has definitely lived his life to the fullest. He loved golf and was a golf-pro much of his life. He also became an honorary Italian while living in Memphis, TN due to his love of and talent at Bocce Ball. He owned a Toy & Hobby shop…lucky me! Me and all the grandchildren got to work shop there every time we visited. His family meant more to him than anything and he loved to get everyone together (especially for 5 o’clock, drink time!) He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary O’Kelley Coon Toombs (we should all take lessons from them on sticking with our spouses through both good and bad times!), two daughters and their husbands, one adopted son, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. We love you Grandaddy! May you rest in peace and live forever in our hearts!

Perfect. I hope we can all take to heart the lessons granddaddy showed us:

Live hard: life is precious and is meant to be lived fully
Love hard: be there for the people you love when they really need you.
Be proud of everything you accomplish even if its not perfect.
Take time to reflect

We love you granddaddy

Hi T,

I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. He sounded like a great man - very loved! I have not visited this website in a while, and for some reason I thought to check it out today. Please send my regards and sympathy to your family (and you, of course!)
Love,
Dana
