Previously I had written a post on the presence of Bisphenol-A (BPA) in some plastics and their toxic influence on a developing child’s hormonal system and possible link to cancer. CNN just issued a report that these same toxins are found in the inner lining of Infant Formula Cans, such as Enfamil, Nestle, and Similac. Environmental Working Group (EWG), a nonprofit organization who performed the analysis, contends that BPA is harmful even in low doses. According to Nestle, their “excuse” is that all U.S. formula makers use cans from sources who use BPA in their products….so, buyer beware! Read EWG’s Guide to Infant Formula for more information. My advice…breastfeed or while it’s more expensive, buy the formula stored in glass jars. After all, there is never too high a price when it comes to your child’s health!
