I just wanted to write a quick post to let you all know about a college savings program that will cost you nothing. It’s called Upromise and basically you earn money for your children to apply towards their college tuition by shopping at participating grocery stores (such as Publix), drugstores, online retailers, and by buying gas at participating stations. You will have to register your credit card and grocery savings cards on the site in order for them to track your purchases. You earn anywhere from 1-5% on your participating purchases. It’s not much but if you start early enough, it adds up over time. You can also encourage other family members to participate by sending an email invitation through the site. You can go to their website to sign up and for more information on the program www.Upromise.com.

Upromise is a great online shopping site for college savings. My all-time favorite however is iBakeSale. It’s a new program with all the same cash-back offers and stores but allows you to allocate your savings between yourself and any type of fundraising group you might be involved in (e.g. child’s school, sports team, religious group). It’s really easy and has a great interface. Check it out.
